50 Over 50 (2022)

ART DIRECTION • DESIGN

The 2022 50 Over 50 list celebrates and recognizes Minnesotans over the age of 50 who have made significant contributions and achievements in their communities.

As the art director for this project, my tasks included creating the 2022 50 Over 50 identity; designing an online editorial feature, as well as a social media campaign, ads, print collateral, and a presentation; commissioning artwork; sourcing materials and communicating with vendors.

View the editorial feature and event details on Pollen’s website.

BRANDING

While the 50 Over 50 logo, category icons, and primary color (orange) remain consistent, art directors are encouraged to refresh the 50 Over 50 identity each year. Keeping up with Pollen’s tradition of vibrant colors and bold typography, I selected a color palette and graphic style that emphasized the playfulness, sophistication, dynamic movement, and organic richness I associate with our honorees. As such, the 2022 50 Over 50 visual language features geometric, hand drawn, and textured elements.

Pollen collaborated with Juxtaposition Arts to fabricate the awards. Juxtaposition Arts is a youth-staffed art and design center, gallery, retail shop, and artists’ studio space in North Minneapolis. Juxtaposition Arts develops community by engaging and employing young artists in hands-on education initiatives that create pathways to self-sufficiency while actualizing creative power.

These awards were designed and produced by the following Ceramics Lab apprentices: Ceci Andrade-Vital, Chloe Vreeland, and Isaiah Hunter.
